Modern medicine

Modern medicine. A mop up focus that does not adequately address the cause of the problem. We can play damage control with the mops AKA pharmaceutical medications but we must look to cause and ‘fix the leaky sink’ if we want to prevent, reverse chronic disease and optimize health. The number one cause of disease is the Standard American Diet which is high in processed foods, animal products and incredibly low in fiber. As you can see from the charts below we are spending too much money and getting the worst results. We have horribly high infant and maternal mortality rates.  Our current approach benefits the business side of medicine in clear sacrifice of patient health. Should not the health of patients be the number one priority?

MATERNAL DEATH RATES

There is a better way. Look to the cause. Seek out a provider who has a lifestyle focus.

Eat whole nutrient dense fiber foods

Whole foods with fiber: Vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, seeds

Avoid or keep to 2 servings or less a week “meats and treats” which are foods WITHOUT fiber. (Note: if you are addicted to any of these foods best to avoid outright. For many moderation kills. If we could do everything in moderation we would all be at our optimal health)

Foods without fiber = meat, eggs, dairy, cheese, oils, white flour, sugar

Eat oatmeal with 1-2 tablespoons fresh ground flaxseed with berries and plant milk

Try “overnight oats” for breakfast:

Soak 1/2 cup of steel cut oats after rinsing before bed, soak in plant milk overnight in the fridge.

Add 1-2 tablespoons of fresh ground organic flaxseeds, berries, cinnamon

Have a large salad with beans, whole grains, seeds for one meal a day. Use a nut or seed based dressing or vinegar with hot sauce. Minimize oils and avoid dairy based dressings!
