New NIH Study Published Jan 2021:
“Effect of a plant-based, low-fat diet versus an animal-based, ketogenic diet on ad libitum energy intake”
The plant based diet group lost more body fat and the keto group lost mostly water weight.
Even though the LFPB diet had higher insulin levels than the Keto diet, the Keto diet had greater glucose intolerance.
Note: this is one of the best controlled studies on diet I have ever seen,
“Further, all meals were prepared and provided for participants in an inpatient setting, which may make results difficult to repeat outside the lab, where factors such as food costs, food availability, and meal preparation constraints can make adherence to diets challenging. The tightly controlled clinical environment, however, ensured objective measurement of food intake and accuracy of data.”
Yup, locked in a building for the entire study. LOL!
